Repentance and salvation

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” – Acts 16:31

A pastor from a church was taking the tithe and offering to the office of the mission. On the way, four highway robbers robbed him of his money. However, he pleaded with them to return the money that belonged to the church, they did not pay any heed to his words. They attacked him and ran away. The pastor informed the office about it and asked them to pray for this matter. After six days those highway robbers came to meet the pastor and asked him to forgive them. They were filled with remorse for their wicked deed. When they were about to spend the money for liquor and other bad activities their hands felt paralyzed. They begged saying, “What shall we do to stop stealing?” The pastor explained to them the sacrificial love of Jesus and His act of forgiveness and led them see Jesus. They believed in Jesus whole heartedly. They put an end to stealing and they accepted Jesus as their savior.

Paul and Silas were in the inner prison. Their feet were fastened in the stocks. At midnight, they were praying and singing hymns to God. The foundations of the prison were shaken and the doors were opened and the chains were loosened. Thinking that Paul and Silas had fled, the keeper of the prison drew his sword to kill himself. Immediately Paul called with a loud voice and said, “Do yourself no harm for we are all here only.” Then the keeper of the prison enquired, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Later, not only the keeper of the prison but also his whole family believed on Christ and were baptized.

Salvation belongs to the Lord. He has the power to change any man. Nothing restrains the Lord from saving even hard-hearted men. Thus, the two real incidents assert that a person who is redeemed by Jesus can bring the entire family to Christ. We may think that I have tasted and seen Jesus but the situation is not favorable for my family to come to know Jesus. We need not get troubled. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Without a word even by our conduct and good works we can win their souls. God wills for all to be saved. God’s plans and purposes always prevail and never fail.
