Testing of faith

“…that the genuineness of your faith being much more precious…. is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” – 1Peter 1:7

In George Muller’s life March 7th, 1831, was a day of trial and testing of his faith. On that day he had a huge and immediate requirement for the ashram. His heart was in a great turmoil, owing to the urgency of the enormous need. Taking advantage of the difficult situation, satan entered and challenged Muller asking sarcastically Muller, what are you going to do now? How will it be possible? Immediately Muller went down on his knees and prayed fervently with faith and laid everything at God’s feet and awaited amazing answer from Him. He could feel the heavenly peace reigning in his mind. That very same day before dusk a certain rich man who was moved by God offered many gold coins to Muller. The value of the coins was just enough to meet the great requirement. Faith was the weapon used by Muller to overcome and drive out satan who challenged him. 

In the Holy Bible Job was observed by God as “There is none like him on the earth a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil.” satan put Job’s faith to test by taking away his children, cattle and all his possessions. But his losses could not deter him from his faith. In fact, they made him stronger in faith. His greatest statement of faith was “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” So, the Lord restored Job’s losses and gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Beloved ones, many a time satan brings tests and trails in our lives. How do we overcome the temptations? Do we vanquish it with the word of God or do we grow weary of it? Instead of telling how big the problems are, tell the problems how great our God is. Let us be warriors of faith like Abraham, Job and George Muller. Let us take victory by faith. Our problem will withdraw and vanish away.
