One thing is needed

“…one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:42

A prince was crowned as the king of a certain country. After his cornation, he set all his court matters right. Then he took a decision to go on rounds to all the main streets of the towns in his spare time. His wish was to lend a helping hand to the extremely poor and needy. One day while going on his mission, he noticed a man begging for alms with unfolded hands. He was lean, hungry and in rags with unkempt hair and had sore arms and legs. The king drew near and asked him what help he could do for him.

The query of the king made him understand his condition and he replied that he desired to be with him. So, the man was taken to the palace by the king in his chariot. The king commanded his servants to give him a shower, groom his hair, dress him up in expensive clothes and apply oil and medicines for the sores. He also instructed them to reserve places one in the palace and another one in the court for him. 

The bewildered servants did not understand why the king had so much affinity and affection towards that man. The poor man said, “No one has exchanged pleasantries with me so far. I was disappointed when people rejected and ignored me. But the king looked for me and accepted me. As I could feel his genuine love and kindness, I longed to stay with him.” The servants regretted that even though they had been working in the palace and serving the king for years, they never wished to be with the king and only he was blessed to stay with the king.  

Dear little kids, we may go to church, pray to God and read the Holy Bible. But if we desire to be with Jesus, our sins must be washed away by the blood of Jesus and all our filth must be sanctified. Then God will dress us with the clothing of salvation and make us worthy to be with him. Shall we ask for it to God today?
