Resolution – Reward

“A faithful man will abound with blessings but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.” - Proverbs 28:20

Born into a wealthy family and endowed with a large inheritance Henry P. Crowell had to overcome a childhood deadly disease. He discontinued his studies because of the impact of Tuberculosis. One day after listening to the message given by D.L. Moody, he took a resolution. He prayed and vowed to God saying, “Dear God, I don’t know how to preach but I can be an entrepreneur. I am going to try my hand at business. Bless my future endeavors and I shall uphold your ministry.” He was able to buy the Quaker mill in Ohio and created a market for his rolled oats. Later he founded the Quaker Oats company. He was flourishing. Within ten years he brought oats meal to American breakfast table. God answered his earnest prayer. His business thrived exceedingly. As he vowed, he gave away 70% of his income to churches and missionary ventures. Now the Quaker trade mark is known worldwide. As Henry P. Crowell was faithful to God and kept his vow, he was successful and blessed abundantly.

Elijah, the prophet is found in the first book of Kings. The son of the woman who owned the house became sick and was so serious and he breathed his last. Elijah cried out to the Lord and said, “O, Lord, my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him.” The Lord heard the voice of Elijah and the soul of the child came back to him. On seeing her son alive, the mother gave a witness saying, “Now by this I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth.” Thus, the truth of the Prophetic word of Elijah revived the child.

Beloved readers, only a faithful man will abound with blessings. Do we seek God with a loyal heart and a willing mind? Do we set aside time for the Bible reading and meditation and spend that time diligently? We may be running a small-scale industry or working somewhere. Just let us ponder how faithful and diligent are we to God in our business, work and income. Let us be faithful in our words and deeds.
