Rejected Stone

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.” – Psalm 118:22

One day, Thomas Alva Edison was back from school with a letter in his hand. He handed in the letter to his mother saying that his teacher insisted on giving the letter only to the mother. Having a glance at the letter, with tears in her eyes she read the letter so loudly that it could be understood by her son. She said that it was written “Our school is not big enough to be a challenge to your son’s knowledge skills and abilities. As competent teachers are not available in our school to teach your son, you had better help your son with his studies at home.” From that day onwards he was taught at home. Later her mother passed away. In the same century Edison became a famous scientist and a great inventor. After so many years, when Edison was discarding old things, he happened to see his teacher’s letter. Actually, the letter carried a message saying, “Do not send your mentally challenged son to school anymore.” Edison was troubled and perplexed. He at once wrote the following in his diary, “Mentally challenged Thomas Alva Edison has become a very great inventor, solely because of his mother’s motivation.” 

When Jesus came to the country of the Gadarenes, He met a man with an unclean spirit whose dwelling was among the tombs. No one could bind him. He was rejected by everyone. Jesus cast out the multitude of demons from him. At once he began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him. He had changed into a servant of God. 

Dear ones, we feel pity for the mentally and physically challenged people but we forget, all about them. Edison who was rejected by his teachers, invented light bulb. The man who was demon-possessed became a preacher of the gospel. The poor and the rejected will be lifted up by the Lord. God will use them during the days of revival. Let us uphold the weak, so that they can be used as powerful vessels by God. Amen.
