Are you ready?

“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us.... Here am I! Send me” - Isaiah 6:8

Amy Carmichael was a missionary who had done missionary work powerfully in Dohnavur, a village near the southernmost tip of Tamilnadu. Do you know the reason behind her decision to come to India? That was her frightful dream. In her vision, she stood on a grassy and a very steep rock. At her feet there was a long narrow crack in the rock that had broken down into infinite space. She looked down but saw no bottom. She gaped at the people moving along the grass and going towards the edge quickly. They were all blind and they rushed straight towards the edge and fell into the bottomless pit with shrieks. God spoke to Amy through the vision. She obeyed God’s voice and dedicated herself to ministry. 

When apostle Philip went town to the city of Samaria, he preached Christ to them. “The people with one accord gave heed to those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles done by him. So, there was great joy in that city.” But the angel of the Lord commanded him to arise and go to Gaza, which was being on the desert route from Jerusalem to Ethiopia. He did not murmur saying Oh, God should I go to that desert area? Who would be there for me? I will stay and minister in Samaria where people rejoiced for the sake of me. He did not refute the words of the angel. Unlike Jonah, he obeyed and headed towards the desert. On the way to Gaza, Philip met an Ethiopian and shared the good news with him. The Ethiopian believed in Jesus and was baptized. The gospel was spread in Ethiopia through him. Then Philip was found at Azotus and passing through, he preached in all cities till he came to Caesarea. 

Dear children of God, there is a vast difference between immediate obedience and delayed obedience. God asks for our immediate obedience to His call. Thousands of children and women were saved as Amy came to Tamilnadu obeying immediately to God’s call. Philip endured the difficulties in his journey towards Gaza in the desert area. Will you be able to save your relatives, friends, neighbors and villagers from going to hell? They know that you read the Bible. But how much do they know about Jesus Christ the Centre of the gospel. If you say that you did not have a call remember that you have been called through Matthew chapter 28, verses 18, 19 and 20. Pay heed to His voice. He commands us to go and make disciples of all the nations. Let our light shine before others. Let God’s desire be fulfilled. Let there be eternal joy among people.
