Inspired word of God 

“Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.” - Psalms 119:97 

Martin Luther who became a great reformer in his later years, had been to the University library once. There he came across a Latin Bible. Till then, he was under the assumption that only the four gospels namely Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were alone word of God. For the first time his eyes fell upon the whole Bible. How excited he was! With great astonishment and a throbbing heart, he read the chapters with an ecstasy. Later when he took up the position of a professor in Wittenberg university, he began to preach the magnificence of the Bible and to give messages on Psalms, gospels, epistles and the other books of the Bible. He preached the word of God powerfully. Many hearts were touched and enticed by his effective sermons. He proclaimed truth as truth. Truth was spread in all European countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, France, England, Holland and Italy. He made a clarion call for the people of different countries to look up at Christ the redeemer instead of getting an indulgence. So there arose a reformation among the people. For the first time, they began to read the Bible systematically. 

Yes, only the Holy Bible can bring in genuine deliverance from sins in our lives. The word of God will set us free from vain fear and fallacy. But we read in Jeremiah 36:23 about a king who cut the scroll (with God’s word written) and cast it into the fire insolently. But at the same time there were people who rent their garments with broken hearts and repented on hearing the word of God. 

Beloved ones, let us give priority to the Bible. In the new year, let us make a resolution to read the Bible intently and systematically and then meditate on His words. Some books can be read superficially. A few books are read and comprehended well. But we must read the Bible slowly enjoying the taste of every bit of it and understand the concepts well and then recall them over and over again to absorb the truth and reflect on it. For sure, the word of God will guide and direct our path. It will give us counsel and comfort, increase our faith and rout out fear and lead us straight to everlasting life. I do wish and pray that the new Bible journey that has just begun by you today will be continued throughout this year.
