Daily Devotion (English) – 31.12.2020

No murmur 

“Neither murmur as some of them also murmured.” – 1Corinthians 10:10

Let us look back and recollect the events of the year that is slowly coming to an end. Like the changes in the climate there are lots of changes in our lives. There are twists and turns in studies, method of teaching, economy of the family, ministries, jobs, business and the way of living. Mask is also added up with our basic needs such as air, water, food and shelter. We have completed almost one year without visiting relatives and friends, without attending marriage functions, schools and colleges.

But we cannot say that happy occasions and flourishing days when everything went off well as we dreamt were from God and these days of troubles and turmoil are satan’s work. We should remember that nothing can take place without Him sanctioning it. So, God leads His people through various situations. We may think, “If there was no coronavirus pandemic, my daughter’s marriage would have taken place in a grand manner; my son might have scored very good marks in class 10; this year would have been a very quiet and peaceful year.” Ok, your thoughts are fine. But we should not forget one thing. Our thoughts are not God’s thoughts. So, whether it is joy or sorrow let us walk patiently in the ways which God directs us. 

Dear ones, in those days the Israelites without understanding the Lord and His love towards them murmured against God for each and everything and grieved God’s heart and made Him upset. What is our attitude? Are we patient realizing that all the ways through which, God leads us are good? Or do we murmur that this year was wasted and our education was ruined and all functions and funerals were missed? As you think this year might be a little tougher and more challenging but God has provided us with food to live, clothes to wear and shelter to rest. We were given time for more Bible reading and more prayers for our country and the rest. So, we should never murmur against God. Let us keep praising and thanking God with a grateful heart and step into a New Year with a glimpse of the path we passed through.
