Thy Will
“He knelt down and prayed…. “Not My will, but yours, be done.” - Luke 22:42
A farmer had two daughters. The elder girl was married to a farmer whereas the younger girl was to a potter. Every now and then the farmer made a visit to his daughters’ houses. On one such visit, the elder one requested her father to pray fervently for good rain as the plants in her fields were withering away due to drought. Then when he happened to see his young daughter, she asked her father to pray for sunny days so that the pottery made by her husband would dry up well. The farmer was in a dilemma. He was confused as he could not find the way to pray for both of them. He pondered upon this a while and at last prayed to God saying, “Let Your will be done.”
Jesus Christ accomplished His 3 ½ years ministry perfectly. Before His crucifixion, Jesus went to Mount of Olives for praying. He prayed saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done.”
Beloved, Jesus is the Lord and creator of the heaven and the earth. He is all powerful and He is the one who can perform supernatural miracles and wonders. In case, we are not sure of God’s will in our life, we need not get confused. The Lord our God knows our past, present and the future. He is mindful of all our needs. So let us also pray at all time, in all places and in all things to lead us according to His will. Let us wait and see how beautifully and wonderfully we are led through by Him.
