Thoughtfulness
“Blessed is he who considers the helpless; The Lord will save him in the day of trouble.” – Psalms 41:1
Ingrid Kowski, who is fondly remembered as “Mother of CMS” came to India from Germany. She was the wife of Dr. Horst Kowski, who founded the Christian Mission Service (CMS), a charitable organization that cares for orphans and destitute children. Being mindful of others’ needs, she dedicated her life to be the mother of the orphaned children. She loved them as her own children. These children were cared, provided food and clothes and sent to schools for education. Sunday School was held for their spiritual growth. Once when she saw a small boy who was sick and vomiting, she went and sat by his side to comfort him. Moreover, she cleaned the boy with her handkerchief and wiped the vomit with her own hands and hugged him. We remember her even today because of her thought of love and consideration for orphans.
When Jesus went out from Jericho a great multitude followed Him. Two blindmen sitting by the wayside cried out saying, “Have mercy on us! O Lord, Son of David.” Those who were with Jesus rebuked them and told them to be quiet. When they called out Jesus, the people despised them. But Jesus stood still and called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus knew the desire of the blindmen to receive sight. But He spoke with them and touched their eyes and at once they received their sight as they entreated Him.
Do we have the feeling of being belittled and oppressed? And do we worry not knowing to whom to ask for our want and to whom to go for help? Yes, only to Jesus. Yes, we should never forget that Jesus is there for us. When we call upon Him, He will hear and answer us and help us. Those who are blessed richly by God must be mindful of the poor and needy. Let us consider the poor and oppressed so as to be blessed as God’s children.
