Nehemiah
“When I heard these words, I sat down and wept…I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.” – Nehemiah 1:4
The children of Israel again and again did evil in the sight of the Lord. So, the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel and He sold them into the hands of the other nations. They were taken as captives. Those who had escaped the captivity were in reproach. The walls of Jerusalem were broken down. Nehemiah was a Jewish slave for King Artaxerxes and he served as the cup bearer to the king. He inquired the men from Judah about the Jews who survived captivity and concerning Jerusalem. He could not bear to think of the great distress of the people and how the walls were broken down and the gates were burned with fire. On hearing it, Nehemiah sat down, wept and mourned for many days. He was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. Nehemiah made a request to the king and it was granted by the king. He went there and got the massive project of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem completed in 52 days, breaking all the barriers he encountered.
In the recent past the future of Tamilnadu was a question mark. Righteous judgements were set on fire. Uncertainty and mystery covered the atmosphere. As false news spread everywhere, we found it hard to identify the truth. Anyhow we kept on inquiring about the real situation. Through T.V., internet and newspaper every now and then the feelings and views of the people and the authority and domination of the people in power were made known to us but without any reaction we watched it. How many of us prayed with an ache in our hearts like Nehemiah on hearing the news? Did we plead with the Lord to heal our country and people confessing our sins?
Beloved, the involvement and contribution of God’s people is essential for creating Blessed Tamilnadu. We must act fast to build the wall of protection. We must pray like Esther for the evil that befalls the God’s children. May be God keeps us in the earth for such a time as this to be helpful. Let our requests be made known to God by our continuous prayers and supplications with thanks giving. The great commission of our Lord is to prepare Tamilnadu for the second coming of Jesus. If we have such burden for our people, we cannot but pray earnestly for our country.
