Onesimus

“He … was once unprofitable to you, but now is profitable to you and to me.” - Philemon 11

It is a blackmark against a person in his life, if he is caught by police and put in prison for the wrong he had done. When he gets released after the completion of his sentence, he is overviewed only as an offender from jail. 

Onesimus was one such youth who went to prison. We read about Onesimus in the book of Philemon which contains the letter written by Paul to Philemon. Onesimus, a fugitive slave of Philemon was imprisoned for his wrongdoing against his master. That had happened for good and it became a turning point in his life. Apostle Paul was in chains for the gospel. Onesimus met Paul and he was led to Christ by Paul. He accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour. After his conversion, he was acceptable to Paul because of his transformation. When Onesimus was released, Paul wrote an epistle with love to Philemon making a plea to forgive Onesimus and treat him as a brother in Christ. 

Beloved readers, you may be the one who is despised by your family, friends and society because of your misdeed. May be like Onesimus you would have gone to jail. Maybe you are in such a situation that no one talks to you and shows no concern for you. You may think that you can no longer lead a respectable life in the society.

I have good news for you. Trust in the Lord and have faith in Him. God can turn the darkness in your lives into light. Your sins will be forgiven. You shall receive total deliverance from guilty conscience. Not only that you shall receiving the blessing of finding favour in the eyes of people. You shall witness unexcepted people receive you with love. It you go to church and join the Christian believers fellowship. You could see a group of believers receive you with genuine love and concern even after knowing your past life. As it is quoted above, unprofitable Onesimus became profitable to everyone. Like wise your lives will be a blessing to all.
