"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" - Proverbs 22:6

When Mary Teacher called each student in her class and asked them to sing a song or tell a story they knew, Prince ran up and sang the song beautifully, "Forget me not, Jesus, for your kindness will lead me." Mary Teacher was amazed. When asked who taught him, Prince said, "My grandmother," he was filled with joy. He said that his grandmother would teach him songs and Bible stories every day. It was because of his grandmother's efforts that those song lyrics were deeply imprinted in Prince's mind.

Isn't it amazing that at such a young age, Prince had the heart to sing and rejoice in the Lord and obey Him! It is not enough for me to know the Lord alone; We have a great responsibility to guide our descendants to follow us. In Deuteronomy 6:6,7, we read, “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” Let us examine ourselves and see if we are keeping the commandment.

We have a great role in raising the little ones in our homes to be pleasing to the Lord. Are you a loving grandmother who teaches the Scriptures? The Lord must have been pleased with you. In the Bible, we read that the faith that dwelt in Timothy’s grandmother Lois and in his mother, Eunice dwelt in Timothy. Acts 1:11-13. Paul, the reason for the faith of the young man Timothy, can be read in 2 Timothy 1:4,5, honoring his grandmother and mother. Therefore, older adults should teach young children to read the Bible, praise the Lord, and pray without ceasing. Not only that, but they should also be a good example for them.

Do you pray daily for the young children in your home? Do you train them to abide in the Lord? Do you prepare yourself to be an example for them? No doubt; Timothys will arise in your home too. May the Lord Himself bless you. Amen.
