Journey Continues

"And the angel of the LORD came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you” - 1 Kings 19:7

Gardner Taylor was a black man. Born in 1918 in Louisiana, as the grandson of a slave. He became a preacher and was considered a leader in American evangelists despite apartheid. He led a large congregation in New York City. He fought for equality against racism. He was the most beloved evangelist in the world.

At the age of 89, he was unable to travel much due to ill health. "I felt like I had lost everything," he told to Rachel Soll of the Associated Press. But there is a time and a place for everything. He said with faith that it is important how much we gain them. His days of service were not over. He wanted to continue, and he completed his race with enthusiasm even in his weak days.

In today's scripture passage, the prophet Elijah was thinking in his heart that he was at the last stage. But God said to Elijah, "The journey you have to go is very far," and he strengthened him and made him continue his ministry. In Genesis chapter 28, God made this promise to Jacob. He said, "I will not leave you until you have done what I have spoken to you." Our Lord is faithful. When Moses spoke about God, he said that the eternal God is your refuge. Our God, who has been seen through times and ages, is able to carry you through all the days of this message.

The good works that the Lord has begun in us and the decisions we have made for Him are not finished. It must continue until it is completed. Let us believe that He who began a good work in us is able to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. With God's help, forget the bitter experiences of the past. May your journeys be pleasant.
