Vessels of God

"…he will be a vessel for honor, [a]sanctified and useful for the Master" - 2 Timothy 2:21

We are vessels in the hands of God. Today, all the people of the world are vessels used by others. Just as the Apostle Paul was a spiritual vessel used by God for the salvation of whole world, recently the Chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata, has been a useful vessel for the people of the world. Similarly, every individual is a vessel that helps others in some way. We are spiritual vessels created by God. According to the will of God, we are called to live as vessels that function according to the principles of theocracy and belong to God.

Sadhu Sundar Singh was raised in the Sikh way. He hated Christ and the Bible. But the Lord chose that vessel. The people of the world found Christ through Sadhu Sundar Singh. World history tells us that those who knew and proclaimed Jesus Christ were special characters. Those who came as missionaries brought changes in society and created history. William Harry worked to eliminate superstitions in societies in India and brought changes through reform activities.

If we were to write about the effects of the change that each missionary brought about throughout the world, the world would not be able to contain it! The people of Nagaland, who lived by eating human flesh, are Christians today. Similarly, the histories of many countries show that those who were in the habit of hunting and eating humans in many countries have been transformed by God through the ministry of many self-sacrificing missionaries. The reason why the people of African countries, who lived like animals, are living as human beings today is because of the self-sacrificing work of missionaries. Just as the missionaries acted as useful vessels in the hands of God, everyone who accepts Christ should dedicate themselves to act as vessels that are useful in the hands of God in their area. In whose hands, are we? If we are in God's hands, we will undoubtedly live as vessels useful to the Master, vessels that bring perishing souls to God.

- Bro. Samuel Morris
