Toward the goal

"…I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" - Philippians 3:14

The people of the world go through a lot of struggle in life to achieve something. For that they are ready to face any kind of sufferings and problems. Their goal is to create a record! Some succeed. Many fail. Apostle Paul is our example for success in spiritual life. He preached the gospel and acted with the ideal of receiving its reward in heaven. For that he considers the losses and sufferings to be insignificant. "Tembodsheri" this 14-year-old boy, while attempting to reach Mount Everest in the Himalayas in 2000, slipped on a snow mountain and lost all five fingers on both hands. However, until he achieved his dream, he tried many times and climbed Mount Everest through the Tibetan border, earning the name "The Boy Who Reached the Peak" at a very young age. We too may lose something in this worldly life to gain the achievement award in eternity.

When the Spirit says to the seven churches in the special revelation, "To those who overcome he will give them to eat of the tree of life." (2:7) He also says that He will give them hidden manna to eat. (2:17) He also says that He will give the morning star. (2:28) He says that he will be clothed in white and will be blessed to walk with Jesus. (3:4) He says, "The crown is reserved for you; hold on to it so that no one else takes it." (3:11) We can receive what God has for us only if we are diligent.

What is our goal? It is not of this world but of the Hereafter. Joining souls in the afterlife! For this evangelistic ministry we should be ready to suffer and suffer reproach. Let us receive the blessing that God has reserved for him who overcomes. We will guide many to it. Just as Mary choose the good part that none would take from herself, let us sit at His feet and receive the fruit of His Spirit daily, and try to run with patience and win the race of evangelism that He has appointed for us. May we receive the fruits of our deeds from the Lord.
