A minister without ministry

"For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!" - 1 Cor. 9:16

In the month of October 2023, we did evangelistic work focusing on Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts. At that time we did not have enough tracts and the New Testament. So we contacted people whom we knew in congregations in a large town nearby for tracts and new Testament. But we did not get any tracts or new Testaments as we expected. It is a sad news that there are no tracts and evangelical books, which are the basic source of evangelistic ministry, even though hundreds of churches are in that town.

They say "One rice is sampled for one pot of rice". What I am referring to here is not just the situation in a certain town; The situation is the same across Tamil Nadu. It can be said that today's churches have completely forgotten about going to village ministry and evangelizing. Even today, only a few congregations are doing village ministry. Otherwise it can be safely said that many churches are fast asleep, forgetting about evangelism. This is not to find fault or belittle other ministries or congregations. This is the bitter truth.

Leonard Ravenhill writes that congregations that have stopped evangelizing cannot see healthy growth in Christ. "Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel," the chief apostle Paul humbled himself. But today's ministers ignore preaching the gospel and show themselves as the main ones in all other ministries. We must remember the words of the Apostle Paul who said, "I am free from the guilt of all your blood."

We should pray that all the congregations should take responsibility for the word 'Preach the gospel to all creation' which is the main command of the Lord Jesus and do village ministry. At the same time that we pray for others to be saved, we should also pray that congregations and ministers who have forgotten about evangelism will rise up to serve. Never forget what is written in the scriptures, Woe to ministries and congregations that do not do evangelism. Lord help us.
