Awake early in the morning
“Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left and went out to a secluded place, and was praying there.” – Mark 1:35
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States of America. One early morning, senior government officers went to his place to get his counsel regarding an important issue. They knew very well that Lincoln was in the habit of getting up early. They waited for him. They did not disturb him as they heard him speaking to somebody. After a long time, Lincoln came out. The officer said, “Sir, we came here at 5 O’ clock. We waited for you as you were busy talking to someone.” Lincoln replied that he was talking with God. They were astonished to hear it. He explained to them how he was taught by his grand mother to speak only to God first in the mornings and he had clung to her instruction all his life. Thus, early morning prayer was the secret behind his success as a President.
Jesus Christ our savior went out before day break, while it was still dark to an isolated place to pray. In His life on earth, He prayed under all circumstances. With the power He obtained by prayer, He accomplished His ministry victoriously by performing signs and wonders. Jesus waited on His Father, seeking His presence to do Father’s will. He always did what pleased His Father. Jesus says, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work. He has left us an example so that we should follow His steps.
Dear readers, early morning prayer is precious and it has great power. Are we in the habit of getting up early? Even if we get up early, do we seek God first waiting at His presence and spending time to have fellowship with Him? or do we search for our mobile phones? Let us ponder. The success of a day begins how willingly we come out of bed in the morning. We need to wait on God’s presence after a face wash and brushing. Let our prayer goes first before any work. If we awake early and are steadfast in prayer, all may go well with us. We can overcome all our problems and be victorious.
