Excellent Teacher 

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” – Proverbs 25:11

In Gettysburg, a town in Pennsylvania, on the occasion of dedication of the Soldier’s National Cemetery, on 19th November 1863, two famous orators addressed the public. The special orator, Mr. Edward Everett was ex-Member of United States Senate, Governor and the President of Harvard University. At that time, Mr. Everett, who was considered as one of the best orators, had delivered the speech for two hours. After his speech, the President of America, Mr. Abraham Lincoln had delivered his speech. His speech lasted only for two minutes.  

Lincoln’s Gettysburg address was popularized in this world as a whole and was quoted by many. But the speech of Everett was more or less vanished. The reason is not Lincoln’s brief and with much conceptual and verbalism-based speech. At that time, America was in the midst of a bloody civil war and people were in a state of broken and sore heart and his words gave them hope and touched them. 

As per Isaiah 50:4, we read, “The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary: ….” In the Bible, the Spirit of God is seen as an excellent teacher. He is with us as an excellent teacher and teaches us how to speak in a specific place, how to console and how to teach. St. John, in his book of Gospel, specified that the Holy Spirit is guiding us with His special teachings. 

Beloveds in Christ! We should learn, by waiting at the feet of our Lord, who is the Head Master and learn to teach the Gospel. The Lord expects us to become special teachers who teach the Gospel to the people who do not know Jesus. For that, let the Lord may provide His grace.
