How to stand?

“…for without Me you can do nothing” - John 15:5

A train stood ready to depart at the railway station of the city of Woolwich. Ramstok, a minister of God, finished speaking at a meeting and boarded the train. A young army officer suddenly ran up and asked Ramstok, "Sir, I have heard your sermon. But how can a man stand in the way of the Lord?" He said. Ramstok immediately took a pencil from his pocket. He made it stand upright in his palm. But fell due to lack of grip at the top. Then he held the middle part of it. The pencil stopped. He then said, "Our life is like this pencil. We can stand only if the Lord's hand holds us. Otherwise, we will fall like a pencil without a grip." That young man realized that we could stand not by our own power but by the power of God.

In the scriptures, Abraham looked up to the sky and sought God's help in all the difficult times of his life. He completely embraced God. He took God as his partner. Hence, he was called the "Father of the Faithful". If God's hand does not hold us, we will not be able to stand in this world and fall. When we cling to God, He will do great things in our lives. God's kind hand was with Nehemiah, and he was able to finish what he had started. In the same way, if God holds us and is with us, we can overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Beloved, the scriptures say that there is tribulation in the world. It is not possible without the support of him who conquered the world to stand firm in that tribulation and win. Be strong even though you have tribulation in the world. He said, "I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). God has come to you ready to stand by you, to stand by you in tribulation, telling you to be strong. Hold on to him. God can deliver us in the midst of all trials, pains, sorrows and hardships to make us stand. He will never abandon us under any circumstances. Hold on to him without letting go. Let us cling to God alone and stand firm for Him in this world and gain victory.
