Non-Accustomed oxen and accustomed staff

“I taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by their arms; but they did not know that I healed them.” - Hosea 11:3

That day was a special day. Every event was planned so beautifully and elegantly. Not one or two, 30000 persons were selected. All sorts of musical instruments, harp, psaltery, tabret, cornets, cymbals and dance with songs were all got ready. Even a new chariot was ready. Now you may understand, yes, it was the arrangements made when David was bringing the ark of God from Judah! When they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it, for the oxen shook it. Since the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. Now we may get a doubt, whether accustomed oxen would shake. If they are accustomed oxen, there was no chance of shaking. Since it was said that the chariot was new, the oxen might also be new. If it was an accustomed chariot and accustomed oxen, probably the death of Uzzah might not have happened. 

One more incident. David and Goliath. Saul armed David with his armor, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head; also, he armed him with a coat of mail. David put them off him because he was not accustomed to those armors and he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. He got victory. 

Today also our Lord wants us to be accustomed with the oracles of God (Hebrews 5:13). In our spiritual life, we must be matured one, not as children. In the matter of David, he used his known method for the sake of God and like that we also should use our experiences for the sake of our Lord and His glory! When we use like this, our Lord will bless us abundantly.
