Never be hasty

“He who walks in his uprightness fear the Lord…” – Proverbs 14:2

A renowned industrialist who was honest and diligent with expertness lived in London. Once a world wide meet of the industrialists and investors was organized. At the meet, the industrialists would get the golden opportunity to attract them for more investments. All of a sudden, the industrialist fell ill and was saddened by his indisposition. Atlast, he decided to send his son who assists him in his business as his representative. He wanted his son to behave well in the new atmosphere and with people around him. So, he gave him an extraordinary wrist watch saying, “My son, this a watch with a difference. When someone speaks to you if the watch vibrates, you have to be very cautious while speaking to that person.”

On a particular day his son attended the meeting. When the meeting was over a certain industrialist met him and was all in praise for Him. His wrist watch began to vibrate. So, he spoke carefully saying, “It is not as you say. I have a long way to go. I must work diligently” Then he left the spot. After sometime another business magnet approached him and he was going on blaming his father for selling sub-standard articles. The son felt the vibration of his watch. He became vigilant. He said that he had developed some wrong opinion about them and he moved away. Thus, he was able to cope with different situations.

When he returned home, he explained to his father how he was able to tackle different people. Then he affirmed “I am no more in need of the watch to give me vibration of feelings as I have learnt to have any situation under my control with temperance and wisdom.”

Moses was very humble more than all men who were on the face of the earth. When he was frustrated by the people of God, he lost his self-control and struck the rock instead of speaking to it. So, God was angry with Moses. So, he was barred from entering the promised land. He could only see the land with his eyes. His mission was to lead the Israelites to the Holy land. But he could not enter Canaan. When Moses who knew the Lord face to face had such a great fall, how much more we need to be heedful?

Sometimes, we too are not temperate when we are hurt and wounded by the words and deeds of others. We lose our self-control and encounter many troubles and problems. So let us fear God and be temperate in all things.
