God’s word (Bible) is truth
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” - Psalms 119:11
Dear little kids, are you keeping fine? Usually, we go to VBS in May and enjoy and spend time happily. But at present we attend only on line VBS and learn a lot through it. We should follow whatever we have, Right?
Joe, a little boy lived with his parents and grandparents. He was fond of running about and playing. He was smart and cheerful. Joe was watching his grandfather reading the Bible very often. One day he asked him an array of questions such as “Why do you spend so much time on reading the Bible? Are you going to sit for an exam? Are you not bored? His grandfather answered saying “No, dear. The Bible is the treasure given to us by Jesus. The Bible is the word of God. Jesus speaks to us when we read the Bible. He will teach us many things.” Joe asked if he could try reading it. At once the grandfather gave him a handy Bible.
Joe sat on the chair and began to read it. He tried hard but he found it difficult and he could not understand anything. Then he arose another question. He asked his grandfather if he had learnt the Bible by heart. The grandfather replied saying, “I have not memorized the Bible but I can feel God speak to me when I read it. The Bible helps us to walk in the right path and avoid doing anything wrong.” Joe was sad that he was not able to read properly and understand the meaning. The grandfather wanted Joe to understand the value of reading the Bible. He asked Joe to take the bamboo basket and go to the pond nearby and fetch water for the plants. The basket was black and full of dirt as they kept charcoal in it. Joe went to the pond and tried to fill the basket with water. By the time he took one step, all the water flowed out. He tried five times. It is of no use. He came back sadly with the empty basket and explained to his grandfather. His grandfather asked Joe to take a look at the basket. He said, “Although it could not hold water, all the filth had been washed away and it was clean.” Joe also wondered how it had become clean. The grandfather then told him, “In the same way, when we keep reading the Bible, we feel remorse for our mistakes and ask for forgiveness and our heart is made clean.” Joe understood the importance of reading the Bible and made up his mind to try and read the Bible.
Dear little boys and girls, hope you too have understood the power of the word of God. Read the Bible and live a holy life.
