Daily Devotion (English) – 10.07.2021 (Kids Special)

“…there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents…” - Luke 15:7 

Kutties, today we are going back into the past to know what happened before 2000 years on Golgotha, a skull shaped hill, a site outside Jerusalem. Are you ready? 

Three crosses were erected on the Golgotha hill. Jesus was crucified on the centre cross which stood out. Jesus hung on the cross so that we could receive salvation and eternal life in heaven. Two robbers were crucified with Him one on the right and another on the left. One robber reviled Jesus and blasphemed saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.” But Jesus gave no answer. He was in acute pain, suffering the five piercing wounds.

Take a look at the other robbers. He rebuked that robber angrily asking him if he had not fear even for God. He also confessed that they were condemned justly and had received the due reward for their deeds. He witnessed by saying, “But this Man has done nothing wrong.” He paused a while and then turned to Jesus, with his eyes welled up with tears and entreated Jesus saying “Lord remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” Jesus was well pleased with his plea. Listen carefully, kids. Even though Jesus performed many miracles like healing the sick, raising the dead etc, many people did not have any faith in Him. But the criminal who was condemned, believed in Jesus when He was feeling abandoned and helpless on the cross. How great his faith was! Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise” What a wonderful assurance! In the last minute the penitent thief was blessed to get to heaven as his sins were washed away and forgiven. 

Kutties, in this world most of us seek Jesus only for receiving blessings, getting the problems solved, meeting the necessities and for healing from sickness. But the repentant robbers did not ask for any worldly blessing. He asked for redemption and salvation. Yes, we must not seek God only for receiving worldly blessings. If we seek Him to get our sins forgiven and to be filled with His presence, we shall become God’s children and heirs to inherit the kingdom of heaven and eternal life.
