Miracle on the mountain

“…for God loves a cheerful giver” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 

That was a very remote and deserted place. Jesus was sitting on a small mountain with his disciples. A great multitude were listening to the preaching of Jesus. Even children were watching Him keenly without being diverted. As time went on, all began to feel hungry and the little ones were restless. 

At that time Jesus asked Philip, his disciple “Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?” Philip answered saying that hundred denarii worth of bread would not be sufficient for them. Another disciple named Andrew came forward and said, “There is a lad who has five barley loaves and two small fish.” The lad offered everything to Jesus with a whole heart and with a broad smile. The parents of the other children were whispering something into the ears of their children. A certain mother asked her son, “If you had loaves and fish, would you have given them without any reluctance? Look at the lad! How nice of him!” Any how do you think it would be sufficient to feed 5000 people. But Jesus told his disciples to make them sit down on the grass in rows. The disciples did accordingly. Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. What a miracle! The loaves and fish were not used up. So, they all ate and were filled and twelve baskets of the left-over fragments were taken up by them. 

Those who happened to meet the lad shook hands with him. They lovingly stroked his cheeks and gave him a kiss. Some of them patted him on his back and exclaimed that he was special. All were full of praise for the lad as he gave whatever he had without keeping anything for himself.

Dear little ones, we can also offer to Jesus. Are you asking what to offer and when and how? You can get a piggy bank or hundi and save your pocket money. We can offer the saved amount to the one who struggles in life or needs to pay the school fees. We can offer it to the servants of God to avail it for doing ministry. We need not think how to give a small amount. That little boy did not think that what he was going to give would not help the multitude in anyway. Everything will be blessed if it is given into the hands of Jesus. Are you ready to buy a hundi?
