Passed through the waters
“You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.” - Psalm 91:13
It is of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed. The entire world has fallen into the clutches of the pandemic covid-19. Those who are infected severely are fighting for their lives. The coronavirus makes the level of oxygen needed for our body go down and the patients struggle to fight it. The rest of the people live in the fear of being infected. There is a dramatic increase in covid-19 in the second wave. It has pushed people into difficult times and uncertainty. The Bible says that these are signs of the times and the end of the age. It is said that “There will be great earthquakes in various places and famines and pestilences…”
Some days ago, my mother and I were afflicted with covid-19. We were admitted to the hospital and underwent treatment. We became so weak that we felt we were going into deep water. I wailed saying, “Oh, God, where can I see you? Reach out your hand and lift me up.” I prayed day and night holding fast to His promise which says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers they shall not overflow you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned. Nor shall the flame scorch you.” I screamed day and night saying, “We have passed through the waves of corona that struck us. Lord, I would like to continue with my ministry and do it more. Let me be used by you.” God comforted us through His words that say, “Fear not for I am with you.” By God’s pure grace we recovered from the disease and came home.
Beloved in Christ, the Lord God will help us to tread upon and trample coronavirus that is like a lion and snake. If we are not hit by covid-19, let us keep on giving thanks to God with a grateful heart. If we walk through the path of distress, let us cling to Jesus Christ. Let us declare boldly with Job, “Though He slay me, yet I will I trust in Him…” We can overcome fear that satan brings by gripping God’s hand. We can be of good cheer as God’s hand is mightier than coronavirus. He will deliver us and give us strength to walk through waters and fire.
