Beauty or Love

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

Hello, Kutties. You all like birds, don’t you? What are the birds you have seen? Yes. Peacock, parrot, eagle, crow, sparrow, pigeon, duck, stork and so on. Yes, there are numerous birds. Birds like parrot, pigeon, canary and love birds are friendly pet birds and children enjoy playing with them. Today’s story is about the friendship between two birds. Are you ready to hear the story?

It was a lush green forest with tall and big trees adorned with colorful flowers. Many birds were nesting in the trees and living happily. A pretty bird with lovely blue feathers lived in that forest. It felt very proud of its beauty. It thought that no other bird was as pretty as it was. It often looked in the mirror and admired its own elegance. It made friends only with pretty birds and felt happy to be in their company. One day, a crow came to the pretty bird and asked it to accept its friendship. The pretty bird was very angry with the crow. The pretty bird asked the crow if it had ever seen its image in the mirror. It scolded the crow saying that it could not accept an ugly bird as his friend. The crow flew away sadly.

Days passed away. The pretty bird fell ill and became very weak. It lost all its beautiful bluish feathers and it looked ugly and no one could identify it easily. It was too weak to fly in search of food. It sought the help of its friends. But they were not willing to help it. The crow took pity on the sick bird and brought food. What a loving deed! It was love in action. Now it was time for the bird that lost its beauty to ponder. The sick bird said to itself, “The crow that was humiliated had driven by me and loved me and was kind to help me. Now I understand the value of true love which is not in outward appearance. Love is greater than beauty.”

Dear little sisters and brothers, did you listen to the story? We must never choose our friends based on good look or affluence. Without any discrimination we must love everyone in such a way that it paves the way for others to come to know Jesus through us. Is it ok?
