Deserving leadership
“And he changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings.” – Daniel 2:21
A certain king governed his country wisely and the citizens were happy and the kingdom was flourishing. The king had two wives and both wives had a son each. The king was growing older. Both his sons claimed the throne. His wives were nagging him about it. The king thought of a plan. He said, “Both sons must take a test to prove their ability and the one who is capable of governing the country will be chosen as his heir.”
There were two islands which were 10 Km away from the country. Both his sons were left in a separate island. They were provided with enough maize for food and they could manage with it atleast for two or three months. They could not return to the country without a boat. The king said, “When you run out of corn, you cut the bushes and set fire. On seeing the fire and smoke from the island, the guards will be sent to bring you from the island by boat.” After three months they noticed fire and smoke in an island. So that son was brought to the palace. But the king was wondering why there was no fire in the other island even after many more months. So, he himself went there with his guards to find out what had happened to him. There they saw maize plants grown tall in a large area. He had cut the bushes and cleaned the place and in that area he had planted a part of the maize given to him. It gave a good yield and the area was also kept neat. The king was well pleased with his son. So, the king declared that he would be his successor. Yes, the king who governs the people must possess wisdom and adaptation.
New Chief Minister has assumed office in Tamilnadu after the Lok Sabha election. He has taken over as Chief Minister at a very challenging time as the second wave of the covid-19 is sweeping the state. His friendly approach towards other party members is appreciable! His selection of diligent and honest officers is significant. He swung into action to fulfil his electoral assurances. His public welfare programmes make the people happy. But for the welfare of our country, we have to carry out our duties and responsibilities properly. Let us pray that the leaders in power govern us wisely and eradicate covid-19, and rule without corruption and maintain law and order. Let us also pray fervently for all the ministers and all higher officials of all the departments. Let us cooperate with the government to get rid of covid-19 and to lead a peaceful and prosperous life.
