Hiding from God
“Therefore, obey the Lord your God, observing his commandments and his statutes that I am commanding you today.” – Deuteronomy 28:4
A certain mother had three sons. She gave each one of them an apple and instructed them to go to a secret place where no one could notice them and eat the apple and in the evening to report to her and reveal the secret place. They got the apple and began to find a lonely place. The eldest son went to the garden. He looked all around. As he was sure that no one else was there he ate the apple. The second son went into the store room and locked the door and ate it up. The youngest son could not find any secret place. All the three of them came to their mother. The first and the second son narrated how they ate the apple unnoticed by anybody. But the youngest son said, Mummy, where ever I go I feel the presence of God. I know God is with me always. So, I cannot do it without the knowledge of Jesus.
This little boy could feel the presence of God everywhere. But right from our first father till today mankind failed to feel that God is with them. The Lord God called Adam and asked, “Where are you?” Where should Adam be at that time in the cool of the day? That was the time for Adam and Eve to walk in the garden with the Lord. What was his plight? According to Hebrews 2:7, God crowned him with the glory and honor and put everything in subjection under his feet. But Adam says, “I was afraid and hid myself” How sad and tragic! Thus, it is a great sin to break the commandments and to flee from the presence of God out of fear.
Beloved, have you ever realized the exaltation reserved for us by God? It is stated in Ephesians 2:7 that we are seated with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Forgetting the loftiness, we have received, are we keeping away from God by being enticed by worldly lust like Adam and Eve? If so, let us regret. Let us repent for our sins and reconcile with God and be with Him always. Hallelujah.
