Stay awake

"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer" - 1 Peter 4:7

A true incident that happened in a village in Tirunelveli district. A poor student from an illiterate family, who was receiving tuition fees support was to write his Class 10 public exam. He stayed up all night studying and fell asleep in the morning. The student, who was a good student, did not appear for the exam when the teacher went to his house and found him sleeping. The teacher brought him and made him write the exam in the exam hall with the permission of the supervisor. God helped the student to get School First mark.

In the Bible, in Matthew 25, the five foolish virgins were unable to enter the wedding hall because they fell asleep when the bridegroom arrived. We who know God, we are not the children of darkness, but we should be awake and sober, not sleeping like others. Darkness is a sign of evil. It is at night that alcoholics and fun-loving people celebrate. The wicked start their activities at night so that no one will see them. Kidnappings and drug trafficking are done at night.

If we do not live as children of light and if we do not prepare and wait for His second coming, we will miss the opportunity to go with Christ at His coming. The signs of Christ's coming are happening before our eyes. Even now, many events such as wars and disasters are seen as signs of His coming. Due to personal worldly concerns and wrong teachings, we are likely to fall asleep with the wrong people of the world. Therefore, since we do not know when Jesus Christ will come, let us stay awake and live with a clear mind and go with Him joyfully. Amen.
