Be Humble

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time" - 1 Peter 5:6

A little boy went with his father to a department store and bought the things they needed. Then the store owner showed the smart-looking boy a jar of candy and told him to take as many candies as he wanted. He looked at his father. He also told him to take it. Finally, his father took the candy from the jar and gave it to him. When they both left the store and came near the house, the father asked the boy, "Why didn't you take the candy yourself?" The boy replied, "Dad, your hand is big, so if you take it, I will get more. If I take it, I will get less. That's why I waited until you took it."

In the Bible, we see Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4: 9,10. It is not known under what circumstances his mother gave birth to him. But it is understood that she gave birth to him under very difficult circumstances. Because his mother said, “I bore him in sorrow.” So she named him Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9). Look how sad it was. But Jabez prayed to God. He waited with confidence that God alone could exalt him. He was humbled by God’s strong hand. God blessed him with more honour than his brothers. Yes, Jabez waited until the Lord blessed him.

Dear child of the Lord! Your life may be like Jabez’s or you may be hiding like Adam after making a mistake. Give yourself to the Lord with all your heart and receive forgiveness of sins. Pray to the Almighty God with tears and wait patiently, knowing that He is God, until He lifts us up in due time. The Lord will lift us up. Our God is full of power. He will surely do glorious things for us. "If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored;..." Job 22:23
