Locust

"...For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" - Matthew 18:20

We have all seen locusts. When they come alone, no one is afraid of them. They do not cause any great harm. But when they come in a swarm, they do not leave any green leaves in their path, they eat up the entire crop and make it bald. Locusts have the ability to work together. One of the ten plagues that God commanded to demonstrate His power in Egypt was completed by using locusts. In Proverbs, the wise man Agur says about locusts, "The locusts, which go forth like a swarm, even when there is no king"! He has mentioned that they are very wise. What they could not do alone, they could do together. We can learn a spiritual lesson from this.

In the New Testament, in the days of the apostles, Peter was put in prison. They assigned four squads of soldiers to guard Peter. While Peter was being kept in prison, the church gathered and prayed fervently to God for him. Peter was bound with two chains in prison and was sleeping between two guards. In this situation, the angel of the Lord brought Peter out of prison. The reason for Peter’s release from prison was the fervent prayer of the church. When we say church, it can be a small group or a large group. It was everyone praying together as a group that gave freedom.

Beloved! From these tiny creatures, the locust, we can learn how great the effect of praying together is. Christian believers and ministers, when we pray together as a group and work for the Lord with one mind, we can do more than one can do alone. We can rise as a great army and fulfil the purpose that the Lord has for our church.
