Raghu's Greed

"...and be content with such things as ye have..." - Hebrews 13:5

Mom, I am very hungry. Please bring me some food quickly, said Jagan. Mom said in a soft voice, "Here I will bring it." She gave him some old rice and pickles. When Jagan asked if Mom had anything else, Mom said with worried eyes, "No." Jagan also ate and went to play. His father and mother were wondering where to go to work. Because that village was a very dry village. All the men in that village would go to another village in search of a livelihood.

Jagan's father, Raghu, also went to a village in search of work. He went to the chief there and asked for a job. He said okay and the next morning he took some people and Raghu out and said that you can keep the entire place as far as you walk by sunset this evening. You can farm it and be happy as a family. This is the condition of this village. We do the same for everyone who comes here in search of livelihood, but with one condition, you have to come here before sunset. I will stay here. If you don't come, you won't get anything, he said.

Raghu said okay and started walking. A little distance away, he saw a coconut grove with a long canopy spread out. He ran towards it with a desire. Beyond that, there was a good and prosperous mango grove. He ran there too. Beyond that, there was a green field, and a stream with a roaring sound nearby! He ran there too. It was dark by the time he got there. The sun had also disappeared. Now, by the time he was running to the leader's place, he had fainted. The leader said, you have lost everything you have gone to because of your greed. He said, "You have nothing here anymore, run away."

Brother and sister, did you see that Uncle Raghu could have lived well with a coconut grove and a mango grove. But now he has lost everything due to greed. You too should learn to live happily with what Jesus has given you. You should not think that you have to buy everything you see with your eyes. O.K
