Opportunity 

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil” – Deuteronomy 30:15

We all know pretty well that Bill Gates, one of the American business magnets was number one on the list of the world’s Billionaires once. On a television interview, a journalist asked, “Mr. Gates, what is the secret of your success?”  Instead of answering the question, Gates handed the interviewer a blank cheque and told her to write whatever amount she wanted on it. The journalist refused to take it and then repeated the question again and again. Gates looked at her and finally answered the question. “The secret of my success is that I do not miss any opportunities like you missed. You should seize every opportunity” he reportedly said. 

In the Holy Bible, Esau remissed in his leadership of the family. He sold his birthright which was a double portion of the paternal inheritance. Birthright meant nothing for Esau. The ordinary red stew seemed special in his eyes because of exhaustion. Afterwards when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected for he found no place for repentance. But Jacob owned nothing but his staff when he crossed over Jordan and had become two bands that included property, servants and livestock. His blessed descendants are still on the earth and in the country of Israel. Jesus was from the line of king David.  

Dear youth, we should make use of the opportunity offered, no matter whether it is big or small. If we seize and utilize, the given opportunity, it will be a great blessing. We must accept whatever chance available in colleges, family or in ministry. Our talent will be identified if we fare well and if we are at your best in it. Let us not give room for worldly lust and slackness to prevent us from our endeavors. Let us be diligent to avail the opportunity and utilize the ability for the glory of His Holy name. “We can lose anything to gain Jesus because Jesus is everything.”
