Post the letter

“O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.” – Psalms 65:2

Earnest prayer is like remaining unworried, after posting our letter in the letter box hoping to get a reply. Suppose, we keep the letter in our hand and worry about what to do if the letter is left unanswered if posted. If we are so much doubtful, we will neither post the letter nor get a reply for it. Unless and until the letter is posted trusting the postal department and postman, we will not get any result.

In the Bible, Elijah was a man with a nature like ours. King Ahab did evil in the sight of the Lord. So, Elijah said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives before whom I stand there shall not be dew nor rain these years except at my word.” As Elijah proclaimed, there was drought. After a long period of three and a half years when Elijah and Ahab were on Mount Carmel, Elijah told Ahab that there was the sound of abundance of rain. Then Elijah went up to the top of Carmel and there he bowed down on the ground, put his face between his knees and prayed earnestly for rain. Then he told his servant to go up and look towards the sea. He looked but saw nothing. Elijah sent him again and again. Only in the seventh time he could see a cloud as small as a man’s hand rising out of the sea. Fervent and earnest prayer of just one man was so effective that the heaven gave rain.

Beloved, we are perplexed when we are amid difficult problems in our lives. But if we commit our ways to the Lord trusting in Him, He will help us to prosper in all our works. Just as we drop the letter hoping that it will reach the person and a reply will be sent, we must pray with faith and await an answer with hope, then God will work out so beautifully and we will prosper in all that we do. Without getting weary at the prevailing situation, let us pray earnestly to the living God who always hears and answers our prayers.
