Master Health Checkup

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spiring the issues of life.” - Proverbs 4:23

Nowadays the doctors insist that a thorough master checkup is essential for everyone in their forties. Only then we will come to know about the functioning level of each part, we and system in our body. Then keeping in mind, the working condition of the parts. We need to carefully change our way of living, to be happy and healthy. Similarly, the Holy Bible instructs us to know the condition of our spirit by getting our heart tested. This self-examination helps us in our sound spiritual growth. 

Karl Rabeder is a forty-seven-year-old Austrian businessman. He realized that his excessive extravagances were a hurdle for leading a happy life. He donated his entire fortune of over four million US dollars to charity. When he was interviewed, he said, “I felt that I had become a slave to the tasks accomplished by me to acquire worthless worldly materials. It did not make me happy. I was also shocked to know how dangerous if I kept indulging in a luxurious worldly life when the spirit was lifeless. 

We read in Psalms 62:10, “If riches increase does not set your heart on them” Then in Matthew 6:21 Jesus says in the sermon on the mount, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Greed and covetousness mar the happiness and peace in our life. We have to examine ourselves in the light of the scripture for the love of money is the root of all evil. Those who coveted after money had erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows and we have so many victims in the Bible, who could not inherit the Kingdom of God. Let us guard our heart and mind by meditating on the word of God.
