Meditating on the Word

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night " - Psalm 1:2

A farmer planted a jackfruit tree in his garden. He watered it every day and fertilized it from time to time. He fenced it to protect it from the goats and cows. He would look at the jackfruit tree at least once a day and be happy to see its growth. The tree grew well, and the farmer was excited. He thought, “Soon, we’ll eat jackfruits!”. But to his disappointment, even after nearly five years of nurturing the tree, it did not bear any fruit. Filled with frustration, he even started to hate the tree and decided to cut it down

He told his friend about his concern and asked him for help the next day to cut down the tree. The friend told him to be patient and gave him some advice. As per the advice of the friend, they turned the canal that was a little far away towards the tree. One day, the tree blossomed and bore fruit. After a few days, the fruit ripened and hung. The farmer met his friend and said that the tree had borne fruit, and he would not cut it down anymore. But when he asked his friend why he had asked him to move the canal near the tree, His friend replied, “When the tree was small, the little water you gave was enough. But after it grew big, that same amount of water wasn't sufficient anymore. That’s why I told you to bring the canal closer." The farmer realized his mistake. Both picked the jackfruit from the tree and ate it.

Yes, dear friends! You may be thinking, “I’ve done everything I can. Why is my life like this? There’s no fruit or result!” You may be feeling disappointed. But here’s what the Lord is saying to you today: “If you delight in My Word, you will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season.” Yes, it’s true. God is ready to turn your desert-like life into a fruitful garden. Spend time meditating on God’s Word. The stream is already coming toward you. Your life will be filled with fruit.
