“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” – Proverbs 25:11

A girl was named Mary, was born with infirmities. Her lip was divided. The nose seemed bent. But her parents hopefully educated her. Her co-students very often started to mock her. On result of this, Mary seemed angry and with fretting in the class. She did not have any friends. Nobody was there to show concern over her.

In this state Mrs. Leonard was appointed as her class teacher. Her teacher who had given her for Christ had understood Mary’s problem in few days. She had another problem which nobody could understand her. But Mary’s one ear was clear to hear. The teacher found this.

In the time of asking question, the teacher was concerned of her that Mary should not be ashamed of when she asks the questions among the students and behaved kindly. One day the teacher to encourage Mary told the children, “You each one of you come here to me close your one ...

“For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.” – Matthew 25:29

In a verandah of a big bungalow one dog was seen barking loll…loll, because the owner and the master of the house had proposed to go abroad.  So, he called all the servants and gave each one each responsibility.  That grateful dog started barking thinking that where his boss will go.  When the gardener, cooks and all had left; the boss called three efficient persons and gave talents to their skill.  To the first the master gave five talents, and to the next, the second person he gave two talents and to the third person he gave one talent and went on journey.

The person who got five talents went to the market.  He purchased the essential materials and did the merchandising and earned additional five talents.  He felt happy on account of hard work without being dull and lazy.  And the two-talent obtained second man did the work with his known craftsmanship ...

“…I plead with you, that you all…there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” – 1 Corinthians 1:10

You readers’ friends of this devotion! Do you have envy, fretting in your heart? Do you have divisions in your family? Are you without speaking in your family? Are without forgiving anybody? These are the divisions as the works of flesh (Galatians 5:20). Today let us see the cause for divisions and solvent for divisions.

The reason for the division: The pride is the cause for all quarrels. Do you have pride after your caste, community, job, and beauty and richness wealth? If anybody says against us do we get angry, emotionally violent? Do we have non-conceding co-operation, non-compromising, non-set right spirit, non-cooperate mind? To ask forgiveness, to forgive and voluntarily willing to speak, to acknowledge the self-mistakes do we have mind? If you don’t have so, you are proud! Do you have anyone of these things? Just check it.

“…a thorn in the flesh was given to me…lest I be exalted above measure.” – 2 Corinthians 12:7

When said of thorns, it reminds us the pain as result of pocking with thorns. In the scripture thorn is being the sign of curse. (Genesis 3:18) says that thorns block generally the growth. But do you know that the thorn brings many blessings in the spiritual life of Godly man?

In 1 Samuel 1st chapter Peninnah was thorn to Hannah. But that thorn led Hannah towards the temple of God. There it made her to pour out her heart in the (altar of God) presence of God. That brought the peace in the life of Hannah and God gave Samuel and other five children to her. Since3000 years, her life being a witness and model to the most of the people.

In the life of Paul, a thorn was given to him by Satan. But through that he obtained more grace brought from God. That grace had brought God’s grace and favor in his life ...

“…you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you.” – 1 Samuel 16:3

In the 17th and 18th centuries churches in England were sunk into spiritual darkness. That darkness had gripped England as clouds of sin. God was concerned to meet the nation. God touched the man of God and the youth John Wesley as apostle. Afterwards he prayed many hours with lamentation and mourning for his salvation. He often used to pray as, “God save me or take me (take my life).” Through the salvation provided by God; there took great changes in him. Later he established an institution in the name “Holy Club”. Once he started to preach the message as chorus/song, the Psalm 100th chapter in the open market place. First 4 persons started to hear his preaching and, in the end, more than 1500 members gathered. The anointing of God that was upon John Wesley brought great change in country of England. The lifeless churches got filled with fire spiritually, the changes that were in the churches brought big convention in the nation. A youth who was filled with ...

“…Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.” – Luke 10:41

Love of money is the root cause of all sins; thus, the root cause of all sorrows/worries is dullness. The dull creating root starts from worries. There is none in the world without worries. From King to Pauper, Prime minister to Peon all does worry. When we worry about a thing what have to know about it is the two things that are imbibed in it will be useful.

What we can’t change: We can’t change some things in our life. Suppose, one of our close relatives is suddenly demised /expired that will affect us more. We worry about that. That we can’t change. So, to be more inclined with God will be intelligent.

What we can do is: We can change things that happened in our life. For example, if failed in the interview, to change it victoriously creative actions to be taken not to be sunk in the sea of worries. In a house it was stated with words as follows were, “Whatever you can change, try to change it. What you can’t change you forget about ...

“And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” – Psalm 139:24

How can a man do repair one who does not know about two wheelers vehicles? Of course, he may loosen all items from the vehicle and keep it in a store in line.  But he can’t find out the defected parts for repairing.  Neither can he arrange to its origin order.  He may have desire to repair the vehicle.  But without its knowledge thinking to repair it is foolish thing.  Thus, doing will produce more repairs and will affect other parts in the vehicle and lead to worst condition.

To repair the vehicle a particular knowledge of person will be needed.  When the mechanic finds the repaired parts, he will set right to good condition by removing the defected parts, because he knows the method of its manufacture.  Once he rides, he will find out which part does have the defect.  Yes, he is the right person to repair the vehicle!

Just like that he who created us very grandly and kept in the ...

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” – Philippians 4:6

Prayer is victory, is known truth to all of us.  But do you have victory availing praying habit in your life? To them those who don’t have praying habit God leads them into the situation to teach them the prayer habit and increase the faith.

When we are hardly in need of anything, the prayer will spurt out from our heart.  When the situations fear us and unlimited hurdles and problems near us and when our joy of life gets affected, we automatically without anybody’s stirrup we will start to pray.  When we are pulled down that state no way, “God help me” will be our natural cry.

Eugene Peterson remarks, “In the persecution cave the tongues/language of prayer is created.  Thus, formed prayer tongue becomes the base for our prayer life.” To the prayer which spurts out in the time of sorrows does not need any special words.  Thus, the prayer formed in the times of need will create ...

“…be sure your sin will find you out.” – Numbers 32:23

In this world there is nothing like sin that pulls a man towards its stickiness. Many become slave to that by yielding to sin. Some resist and strive against sin and overcome sin. But many have question in their minds why not we do the unwanted things that we don’t like. Life is to live why not so we live with enjoying and experiencing all things? This is the only life we have why we have so much control? There are people who think of enjoyment in this world life as they desired and to think of the other things in the latter days in their old age. In this article let us see about, “Why should not we do sins?”

Because my sin will not please God and also see how it does will always grieve my beloved who loves me.

“Of how much worse punishment… who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing…” – Hebrews 10:29

One youth used to fall in sins and then used to rise up from that sin. One day morning when he was walking alone, he saw the buffalo. In the back of that buffalo was a big wound. One crow seeing that wound on that buffalo sat on the back of the buffalo and poked on the wound with its peak. The buffalo was unable to bear the pain started to run fastly shaking its body. The delight of the crow suffered the buffalo with pain. The crow flew up and came over the buffalo and poked on its wound and the blood oozed out. That youth was not able to see that and keep quiet. He drove that crow with strokes.

When the youth returned to his home in the evening, the buffalo and poked crow crossed before his eyes to remembrance. In that day night, the crow’s poking ...

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation;… he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” – James 1:12

All of us cross the various temptation. In that let us see few of them easily - we jump over them. And without overcoming few of them we suffer. Then, we lament and complain, “God why so much temptation to me?”

If we believe that to them that love him all things work for good, we need not be troubled or worried for anything, because God changes all temptations and troubles that pass through in our life for good. God permits some temptations to bring back the full backslidden and side tracked persons to the right path.

The temptations may come from two persons, one from God and another from Satan. God will not allow temptation beyond our limits. He shows the path to escape the temptation or gives strength to bear the temptation. In the end He will make us as refined gold in the ...

“…My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

Dear beloved in Christ! Though we have accepted God as savior in our life and being anointed we are not able to get delivered from few slavery things, aren’t we? That is suffering with temperament (short temper), tale bearing, striving in sinful thoughts, bitterness against the family members and unforgiving them like not getting delivered in any one of them. Thus, to know how to live delivered life from those things, shall we think from the life of Lot?

Lot who had separated from Abraham resided in Sodom and Gomorrah twin city. Hence the sins were over whelming God sent the Angels to destroy that city. Lot receives those Angels in his house. God was concerned to save all of them belonged to Lot. Knowing that the city is going to be destroyed, he makes ready everything to leave that sinful place. Yet, he delays. “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.” – Psalm 51:2

In our daily life the scripture warns against the sins that we must flee away from sins by telling us the result of it. Today let us see the effect of result of sins.

Primarily, the sin affects the sinner. For example, when Adam and Eve sinned, it affected them. So, they were driven out of Garden of Eden. Thus, King David who lived very pleasing to God, when he sinned how he was affected that we read in Psalm 51 chapter. And further when the second younger son sinned, it affected him more. Grown in wealth the second son was forsaken by all and lastly, he was led to eat the husk kept for the pigs to feed. But he did not get that feed for him but suffered that we know. Thus, the sin suffers the man more who had done it, is certain.

Secondly, the sin affects the sinner who had done it and also ...

“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;” – Isaiah 49:16

One gospel team did their ministry on delivering the love of God very zealously. One day they decided to take gospel to the hill area hamlet. They got prepared for that. But it started to rain in the morning without stop. The gospel team decided what to do. But hoping God without any backward march they climbed up the mountain.

They reached the village in the midst of wind, rain and slough soil. When they reached the village, none was there outside. It was pitching dark. The servants were confused. Yet, after some songs were sung, the preacher with fervent prayer shared the words of God. Then and there in the midst, he started “He hears, He looks, He knows” continuously. In that dark night in a small hut there was a light seen through a small window. The servants of God prayed and returned to their own places.

Even in the times of troubles he used to act wisely. He was retired and came to his own village/place. The neighbors and relatives used to invite for dinner. One day when James Sir was dining in his friend’s house, his friend asked him, “You have battled many wars and won them. “This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.” – Isaiah 28:29

In the Florence Cathedral Church campus of Italy there was one old marble stone. The church administrators to make use of that marble stone they approached a sculptor. The sculptor noticed the marble stone and came to a conclusion. He asked few days time for his start of work, and then started his craftsmanship on that rough hard stone and formed/carved a beautiful statue. On the opening ceremony it appeared to be 18 feet high beautiful youth shepherd David. To this sculptor Angelo, his student remarked thus, “Sir, there is only one thing lacking! No speech.” Yes, that statue was so much lively.

Yes, we read about the craftsmanship of that sculptor who had carved the statue of David. “…My grace is sufficient for you…” – 2Corinthians 12:9

One mother had given ten-rupee coin to her 4-year-old son who goes to nursery school to buy cake after lunch. She asked her son after his returning home in the evening, “Did you buy cake?” The boy sorrowfully showing the ten rupees note and said weepingly, “Mom, the cost of the cake was rupees five, so I did not buy it.” That small boy did not know the value of rupees ten in his hand.

We too are like that small boy think the grace given to our things and ministries are not enough. But what does the Bible say about it? In 2 Corinthians 9:8 is as God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have abundance for every good work.

“…who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” – James 4:17

God seeks the people who crave to act for revival than people who talk about revival. Many Christians think that telling about Jesus to the people who are in spiritual darkness is not theirs but somebody’s responsible. To their un-action they have told many lame excuses and have blunted their conscience. If a rich man has the concern for his brothers on earth to be told of the gospel for preventing them towards hell for the living of us how much concern we must have. In the revival of India, our country, how much part and portion of ours must be?

God can never use the safety concern, wealthy life desiring person. • When revival comes people will desire to spend their time with God more than the people.

• When revival comes the prayer of God’s people will not be based upon selfishness but will be centered upon the kingdom of God.

The labors who attend the factory used to pray while they go the factory those who travel in a bus used to praise God and sing songs.  The Bibles were very quickly printed.  The working time in the printing press was 8 hours.  But the people came to the factory and voluntarily worked for 12 to 14 hours a day.  When the higher authorities told them to return home before the night of scarcity begins to cover the earth without works of God, they used to state that, “We will send or deliver the love of beloved Jesus words throughout the world before the dark days come” and did their work enthusiastically.

The church history narrate that the revival of Azusa Street is the biggest one in 20th century. It happened in the America in the state of California in the city of Los Angeles. There the revival came through the son of black slave William J. Seymour. What he preached the experience of Pentecostalism was not accepted by those days’ churches. So he preached outside of his house verandah door. After days passed the people gathered and came to his preaching. In 1906 April 9th date people who heard his preaching was filled with anointing and filled with tongues speaking. Later the meeting was held in the building of Azusa Street. Once it was the temple and it was cleaned and the church was gathered. There was no bench to sit, no altar for preaching, no choir to sing and no advertisement. Next to Apostle Paul, “Charles Finney” was the very big evangelist on his days. Like Charles Finney none could have been the shaker of the world through revival. He was called the “Father of Revival”. What was the reason for God’s using him so powerful?

In 1792th year Finney was born in America. During his academic years in the law college; his youth hood sinful life began to prick and poke him with convictions. One day when he was going to office saw Jesus Christ was hanging on the cross. Proceeding on foot he stood still there. With tears flowing down from his cheek he ran into the trees filled forest. On the date 25th of November in the year 1965 Richard Wurmbrand arriving to Chennai news had created a big expectation among Christians.  The reason is his 14 years imprisonment life of sufferings in the prison of Rumania, because the Tamil Christians had already known about his sufferings through his book, “Glorious victory from torture.”

On that what he had shared in midst of his message a witness of happenings as follows, “A Russian boy was jailed in the same prison of mine.  As a prayer warrior he had the zeal and thirst for the revival of India.  Though he had not paid visit to India he had many news collections about India. He had burning desire in his heart to do the ministry in India.  But the severe imprisonment, slaggings, starvation, coldness and cancer scattered his health.  Battle against death he laid his head upon my laps and continued his prayer for the revival of India. At the time of his last breath he shared his last ...

“If you will return, O Israel,” says the Lord, Return to Me;” – Jeremiah 4:1

Leonard Raven hill the warrior of revival wrote a challenging book of “Why revival tarries?” He had sprinkled the reasons for the tarrying of revival in his book which all Christians and ministers of God have to read. From that shall we see a part of it?

*Revival tarries…* because the gospelisation has become a business. Poor people, laymen’s offerings are being spent for the luxurious life of ministers, pastors, and evangelists. Luxurious houses near the banks of lakes and lots of money in the bank deposits were empowered by the preachers and by hoping further the people they live there in this state how can God send the spirit of revival? The preachers who preach Jesus who was born in cattle shed who stay in the costliest bungalows, luxurious boarding. The people, who preach gypsy dressed Jesus, live and beautify, decorate themselves with dresses as celebrities and film actors. What Jesus had practiced was fasting; But what these people are doing is practice of luxury. What will be the end of this people in the ...

“…I will pour…the Spirit of grace and supplication;” – Zechariah 12:10

Pastor Andrew Murray prayed with thirst and fervently for the revival in South Africa. Every Friday he prayed whole night for revival. In the year 1858, 59 reading the news about the revival poured in America and Northern Ireland in the Dutch reformation newspaper those people gathered themselves individually and in prayer team and started to pray for the national revival.

In South Africa, Worcester’s meetings held, in that many church leaders participated as Dutch reformists to 374 members. Here Andrew Murray who was speaking on the title “Revival” began to weep touched by the Holy Spirit. He was unable to continue his preaching, his son started to lead the congregation mightily in prayer. This is the pioneer and beginning for the revival of South Africa. After 50 days that the revival spirit began catch and spread in South Africa.

“…all Judah…sought Him with all their soul; and He was found by them…” - 2 Chronicles 15:15

We read about the revival that held in various parts of the world. Today we shall look into the revival that held from the scripture.

Jehu: (2 Kings 9) King Jehu was the cause to bring revival by rooting out Jezebel followers and her who had made the Israelites to backslide and go away from God and follow the Baal worship. King Jehu for God in pious and with orthodoxy for God to fulfill God’s wrath very speedily enacted to root out Jezebel and Ahab’s family without delay. When we operate speedily for God, certainly there will be change in the midst of our meetings and revival will break out.

Asa: (2 Chronicles 15) In Israel there was no true to worship in the heart of the people and there was no priest to preach them and no command book or scripture. The God’s chosen Israelites built the altar, groves and high places for idols and idol worship. See, what a backslidden state! In the days Asa, he broke the altars of the ...

“…false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Matthew 24:24

Separating the loving relationship of God with man is the primary work of Satan. From the Garden of Eden, started from Adam and Eve since now Satan uses his strategies. He makes some to fall in adultery and some others make to believe the atheism. Knowing the weakness of men, he operates individuals as per their weakness. When towards churches he sends torturous, opposition to destroy the churches. And further above all the agents inside the churches as false teachings, false prophets are the products of Satan, these are Satan’s big strategies.

In the book of Matthew 24th chapter when Jesus narrated about the last days signs Jesus Christ told first thing was, “Take heed that no one deceives you.” Yes, for every believer and child of God who desires the revival in church, should know that Satan can create false revival to cheat the church for weakening them. And further as per the above verse Jesus stated that big miracles could be performed by false teachers, fake ...

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105

“Joy, John, do you finish your homework? Come let us complete the family prayer and then eat” their mother called them. After their homework they seated for the family prayer. After few songs; taking one chapter and reading one by one verse from the Bible was their schedule.  On that day while the Bible reading was going on Joy snatched her brother’s Bible. Immediately her mother ordered her, “Take your Bible and read, don’t snatch your brother’s Bible.”  “For today I shall read this Bible” said Joy.  Her father politely stated, “Grandma gave you a new Bible as gift isn’t it? Take that Bible and read, daughter”.  Joy felt that her Bible should not be dusted.  “It is so nice to see in brand new condition.” said Joy very calmly and dearly.

On that day they read her brother’s Bible and completed family prayer.  The mother thought to make understand Joy.  On the next day Joy felt very hungry. Slowly she came to kitchen and peeped into it. ...

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:32

God in many ways to renew and resurrect his people’s spirituality is known through the history of churches. Have you heard about a sermon which had led the church congregation towards the revival? The God’s man Jonathan Edwards fire filled God’s words had been the cause for the repentance of many people. The famous American preacher Jonathan Edwards preaching’s held in the place Enfield had brought a big revival.

In the year 1741 July 8th Jonathan preached in the place called Enfield. The topic of the sermon was “Sinner in the hands of wrathful God”. His sermon was based on Deut.32:35 verse. From the beginning, of the preaching Holy Spirit began to entangle powerfully with all. Most of them those who heard his message were pricked for their sins with tears of mourning in the house of dead which resulted to many people’s repentance. Yet there are revival fire burns in the place is Korea. The border of Korea is China in the opposite border is Russia. Between these 2 doors it seems one Korean lamp was embraced by the hands of God and is amazed with revival means; it won’t mean less.

John Knox a warrior was the cause for the Scotland religious reformation and revival during 16th century. His prayer was “Give me Scotland or take my breath out” – this was his prayer and cravings. He stood against the religious rituals, idol worship and brought the reformative ideas. Hence, he was a pastor for his preaching ideas reformative, for preaching the reformative principles Scotland government had put him in jail into prison for 1 ½ years. Later he was excommunicated to other nation England. He returned to his own country Scotland and resisted against the idolatry in the churches in Scotland and strived for the word of God and scripture with pure gospel.  His preaching was filled with anointing fire. A person who had heard his preaching remarked that, “John Knox one preaching equaled to 500 trumpets.”

“Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?” – Psalm 85:6

When the Israelites went apart from God to far away distance as a captive they cried and wept with voice of agony represents the above said verse. As in the days of old renew and restore us the life was their lamentation that we read in the book of Lamentation 1:7, 5:21.

Just like this spiritual dryness and severe backsliding was seen in the year 1730 in England. Almost the spirituality in the church (spiritual life) was dead. Commotion, strives, violation, smugglings threatened England. Christianity lost its purity and power. The liquor was sold in every one house to three houses distance. “For one paise and for two paise people could drink liquor to corpse (dead man condition)” for the drunkards who lie until the relief of intoxication; for which the straw bed will be provided was advertised. Due to drunkards, the crimes were more prevalent everywhere and jails were filled with victims. For God’s church to burn like brightful lamp, the revival is important. Let us find out some points when we need the revival in our churches.

  • When the love to the brother decreases among believers revival is essential. A brother who doesn’t show the love to his brother how will he show his towards God?

  •

  • When the church doesn’t give important to Biblical teachings but when gives to importance to worldly philosophy, revival is essential. His words tell when we forget God’s words He will forget our children is a strict horrible warning to us.

  •

  • When the divisions and envy increase in the churches revival is essential. If the spirit of God is not poured upon us this human beings deeds of flesh cannot be destroyed.

  •

  • When the church compromises the world, the revival is needed.  The love of the world is enemy to God. When the importance is given to decoration of dress, luxurious life ...

A family or church is formed as per the spiritual standard life of the individual man’s spiritual life stand. The first place where the revival has to take place is the individual man’s life. A sinful man empowered by the Holy Spirit being changed in heart and mind for the life of righteousness is revival in the individual man. Let us think about St. Paul’s revival life.

The true name of disciple of Peter is Simon. The meaning of Simon is reed. Just like the reed waves and tosses, Simon’s life was unstable and only that his life was filled with lacking. Peter he who had confessed Jesus Christ as his Messiah had resisted Jesus when the Lord confession of his crucifixion death and resurrection that nothing should happen to him (Jesus) like that. Generally, we think the enthusiastic songs sung with Spirit filled worship with Jubilation is revival. And some people think the gospel meetings, and deliverance meetings that are held are being useful for getting deliverances, wonderful healings and comforts, are thought as revival by the most. All these are the part of revival! Some of us think that the revival will be held in the midst of heathens.
