“And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother” - Matthew 14:11

Herodias, an example we shouldn't follow: Herodia's life is an example which we shouldn't follow at all angles. A proverb goes by "like mother like child, like yarn like cloth." Her daughter was also cold hearted like her. Her name was Salomi and she was 14 at that time says an archaeologist flavius josephus.

She could have said no to her mother's advise since she is old enough to say so. Instead she became a cold hearted like her mother and Herodia's life made her so. She was raised in an environment which disabled to identify sin. Without any fear, confidence and anger increases. She asked John the Baptist's head as a reward for her dance, her mother prompted her to ask so. His head was given to her on a plate, she gave his bleeding severed head to her mother without any fear. The life of an immoral person will not only impact themselves but also their generation. According to the Bible verse "He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.( Proverbs 29:1)" was her later life. According to the research of Josephus, she was deported to Vienna in South France and died there.

Let us look at our life. Do we have presumptuous sins and revenge in our lives? or can we say " follow me" like Paul did? Even if we are lead a life that shines over this world, let us change our lives to shine over our family and our generation. Let us wish to live a life that others can follow. God will help us.
